Getting over Covid

The last few weeks have been a struggle for my little family. We all got Covid, which was not a pleasant experience for some of us. My partner got it first and then myself and lastly, the kids. I had to make the dreaded message to my extended family, because we saw them the day before, to advise them that we have Covid, hoping that my baby niece did not get it.

My partner and I were quite sick for a week, and lucky the kids were only sick for 48 hours, I was quite grateful for that. Having Covid meant Uber eats nearly every night and lots of screen time for everyone.

I do not wish this on anyone, especially since it wasn't just a mild cold for the adults. We were constantly coughing, we were feverish, had a sore body, lost our sense of taste, and just a feeling of blah.

After week 2, we were relatively back to normal, except for me. I was still coughing, especially at night, which sometimes made it hard to sleep.

This made me realise that having a business is challenging, you do not get paid for sick leave or annual leave. These are a few of the things we need to be conscious of when we are small business owners. One of a few reasons I miss paid work, not having to worry about finances when unwell or on holidays. As a business owner, I need to have a finance buffer for these things.

I hope as you read this you and your family are well and enjoying the short bursts of sunshine during this very cold winter season.
